Scholarship for One Year of Secondary School

As tens of millions of dollars for Haiti’s devastating situation pour in to relief agencies (and rightly so), we are asking our supporters not to give up on the rest of the world’s children, in particular, those at Crossroads Springs.

In 2003 Crossroads Springs was founded on a “wing and a prayer”. The orphanage/school was started with 40 of the most vulnerable children orphaned by AIDS in the Hamisi, Kenya community. Through the commitment of its founder, Dr. Isiaho, his dedicated staff and the generosity of so many of you, each year this first class has moved up and more children have come into the school family to be educated and cared for. There are now 320 children with hopeful futures because of your care and support.

Fast forward 7 years to December 2010 and see 25 of the original group of students graduating from 8^th grade! This is a wonderful accomplishment!

However, for these students, who have come so far through such adversity, to fulfill their dreams, they must continue their education in Secondary School (High School). In Kenya, this is not free and because these children are orphans, the cost for boarding must be added in.

Our request is that you, your family, a club, a church group, a school, a business come together to provide a $600 Scholarship to one of those 25 graduates so they can continue their education for at least one more year.

By July 2010, we must know how many children will have Scholarships for Secondary School so the necessary arrangements and applications can be made for the January 2011 school year. Please respond as soon as possible.
